In late May 2015, we took a trip to the Seethawaka Wet Zone Botanical Garden. Our journey started from Colombo, just a 1.5-hour drive away.

This beautiful garden spans 42 hectares (106 acres) and includes 7 acres of tea plantation. It’s situated about 100 meters above sea level. The Seethawaka Wet Zone Botanical Garden is dedicated to the ex-situ conservation of wet-zone flora and conducts extensive floristic and floricultural research. They also offer training programs, botanical studies, and surveys.

Additionally, the garden provides a wide range of floriculture-related programs for flower growers and offers education and research opportunities for researchers, school students, and university students. It’s also a popular location for photo shoots, music videos, and TV dramas.

Our visit was an incredible experience, and we highly recommend it to anyone interested in botany, nature, or just looking for a beautiful place to explore.
